The Alpha Communications / Elvox 8870 Series handsets are primarily designed to work as an apartment type handset intercom station, and are designed as 5-wire models. They can be used with intercom only systems or audio add-ons to certain compatible video-intercom systems. These attractive handsets easily surface mount right on the wall or over a single gang flush electrical back box (or plaster ring).The 8870 series handsets feature electric buzzer signalling, electret condenser microphones and (2) two momentary button switches. These switches can be used for door release, paging or other signalling functions, depending upon system configuration.
