Barn, Sliding & Pocket Door Hardware for Commercial & Residential Projects

American Wholesale Outlet stocks the full hardware package for every sliding door system: surface-mounted barn door kits and track systems, sliding door tracks, rollers, locks and pulls, pocket door frames, privacy sets and edge pulls, folding door hardware, bypass and closet door hardware, and the guides, stops, dampers and replacement parts that keep systems running. The catalog spans residential-grade kits through industrial systems rated to 1,100 lb per panel, from architectural brands including Pemko, ABP-Beyerle, Cavity Sliders, Sugatsune, Accurate Lock & Hardware and Johnson Hardware.

Which system you need comes down to the opening: barn hardware mounts on the wall face for the fastest retrofit, pocket hardware hides the panel inside the wall for privacy-critical rooms, bypass tracks overlap panels across wide closets, and folding hardware stacks panels where there is no wall run at all. Hardware selection then follows panel weight and duty — carrier and track ratings, track length for the required clear opening, and operating hardware such as soft-close dampers, sliding door locks and ADA-friendly pulls.

We serve contractors, architects, facility managers and government purchasers: purchase orders from Fortune 500, government, health and educational entities are accepted, and GSA buyers can order under contracts GS-07F-0249Y and GS-07F-0326T. Volume and project pricing is available on multi-opening packages.

Planning & Spec Resources

Frequently Asked Questions

What weight rating do I need for a sliding or barn door?

Calculate the panel weight (a 36″ × 84″ solid-core door runs roughly 85–105 lb; 1/2″ tempered glass about 135 lb) and specify track and carriers whose published per-panel rating is at least 1.5× that number. The margin covers dynamic loading and keeps operating force low over the hardware's life. See the specification guide for the full method.

Can barn and pocket doors be ADA compliant?

Yes — with the right hardware. Pulls and locks must be operable with one hand without tight grasping or twisting (ADA 404.2.7), remain usable with the door fully open (pocket doors need an edge pull), operate under 5 lbf, and the parked door must still leave 32″ of clear width. Start with the ADA-compliant hardware collection and the ADA requirements guide.

What is the difference between barn door and pocket door hardware?

Barn door hardware mounts on the wall face, so the panel slides along the wall — the easiest retrofit, but the parked door occupies wall space. Pocket door hardware runs inside a framed wall cavity, so the panel disappears completely and seals better for privacy, but it requires a pocket frame kit and wall access. The system comparison guide covers all four sliding systems side by side.

How long should a barn door track be?

Roughly twice the door width for a single door to clear the opening completely — a 36″ door needs about 72″ of track and the same amount of clear wall beside the opening. Double doors need about twice the combined panel width. Extension rails are available in the flat-track collection when a standard kit rail is short.

Can soft-close be added to an existing sliding or barn door?

Usually, yes. Retrofit soft-close dampers install inside the existing track and catch the door in the final inches of travel. Compatibility depends on the track profile and door weight, so match the damper to your system — see the soft-close hardware collection.

Do you accept purchase orders and government (GSA) orders?

Yes. We accept purchase orders from Fortune 500 companies and government, health and educational entities, and we hold GSA contracts GS-07F-0249Y and GS-07F-0326T (Cage Code 40786). Contact us at 215-279-8511 for project quotes and volume pricing.
