Frequently Asked Questions
Pushbutton lock vs wall keypad — which do I need?
An electronic pushbutton lock is a complete lockset on the door (Simplex, PowerPlex, Trilogy, Codelocks). A wall or mullion keypad/reader controls a separate electric strike, maglock or electrified lockset from the frame or wall.
What is a self-powered electronic lock?
Self-powered locks such as KABA PowerPlex harvest energy from each lever turn, so they do not need batteries or hardwired power for normal operation.
What is a request-to-exit (REX) device?
A request-to-exit switch or station lets someone leaving the secure side release the lock (strike, maglock or electrified lockset) without using a credential. It is required on many access-controlled egress openings.
Do you sell electric strikes and maglocks here?
Electric strikes and electromagnetic locks are sibling categories under commercial door hardware: browse electric strike hardware and electromagnetic locks. This Access Control section covers locksets, readers, credentials, actuators, REX and related controls.
Do you accept purchase orders and GSA orders?
Yes. We accept purchase orders from Fortune 500 companies and government, health and educational entities, and we hold GSA contracts GS-07F-0249Y and GS-07F-0326T (Cage Code 40786). Call 215-279-8511 for project quotes.
